I just read a NBC News article that confirms that not only the U.S. population is getting fatter but the entire world population is getting fatter. Could it be that more and more countries are adapting the Western Diet and Lifestyle?
To quote the article:
“The whole world is steadily becoming more obese, a new study shows, but not surprisingly, the U.S. is No. 1.”
Yippee we are #1! 188 countries were surveyed and it is estimated that 2.1 billion people, 30% of the worlds population is overweight or obese. The U.S. population is only 5% of the world population but it makes up 13% of the worlds obese.
One of the most effected populations to be effected is kids.
Childhood obesity has risen by about 50% over the past 35 years. About 1/4 of children and teen-agers in developed countries are overweight or obese. 30% of U.S. children are obese or overweight.
The estimated U.S. population in 2014 is 320 million people.
160 million of those are overweight or obese. That is 1/2 of our population!
78 million of the U.S. population is considered obese. That means there are more obese people in the U.S. than any other country in the world, including China and their population is 4 times more than the U.S.
If you want to be overweight and obese just keep on doing what everyone else is doing!
- Eat a high-protein diet!
- Avoid carbohydrates!
- Keep thinking you need more Olive Oil, Coconut Oil and other foods high in “healthy” fats!
- Try another new calorie-restrictive diet every 6 months!
- Participate in another diet weight-loss program!
- Keep thinking that someone’s magic shake or supplement is the answer to your weight problem!
- Exercise once in a while whenever you can make the time.
If you want to get slim and have energy you have to carb up!
- Eat a plant-based diet!
- Make the majority of your diet fruits and vegetables along with some grains, beans, legumes, nuts and seeds.
- Do not worry about protein. If you eat enough food you get enough protein!
- Put the Dairy products on hold! Drinking a glass of milk is like drinking a glass of fat!
- Use a very, very limited amount of oils in your cooking. Better yet get rid of them. They really do not provide any substantial benefit. I have used exactly 2 tbsp. of oil in my kitchen since Dec 2013!
- And drink plenty of water!
- Pick a type of exercise you like and do it consistently, daily if possible.
Keep it simple. Eat a Vegan Diet.
When you eat the right diet weight is rarely an issue!
