They say 1 picture is worth a thousand words. That may be true but in this case 66 words are worth a lifetime of good health.

So what are the 66 words and where did they come from?

Who is Dr. T. Colin Campbell?

The words, and the insight comes from Dr. T. Colin Campbell. If you are not familiar with him you should be. He is small in stature but a heavyweight in nutritional research. He is about as respected in the natural health industry as anyone.

  • He has authored over 300 professional research papers.
  • Best known as author, along with his son, of the international bestseller “The China Study“, the most comprehensive nutritional and health study in history.
  • Recently authored, along with Howard Jacobson Ph.D., The New York Times Bestseller Book “Whole: Rethinking the Science of Nutrition”
  • He is the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University.

If you have not read Whole I highly suggest it. I will post a review of the book and my personal highlights in the future.

Whole: Rethinking the Science of Nutrition

What are the 66 Words that Can Change Your Life?

On page 7 of the 300-page book “Whole” Campbell reveals in 66 words what he considers, after 40+ years of research, to be the Ideal Human Diet. Here are the 66 words:

“Consume plant-based foods in forms as close to their natural state as possible (“whole” foods). Eat a variety of vegetables, fruits, raw nuts and seeds, beans and legumes, and whole grains. Avoid heavily processed foods and animal products. Stay away from salt, oil and sugar. Aim to get 80 percent of your calories from carbohydrates, 10 percent from fat and 10 percent from protein.”

What stands out for me in this brief paragraph?

  • You know I like simple. 66 words describes the entire nutritional plan. That is simple!
  • It is a vegan dietary program with no animal products, meats or dairy products.
  • He suggests a Whole Food, Plant-Based diet. Foods as mother nature packaged them.
  • The Macronutrient percentages 80-10-10 are a key factor in what he suggests and a key factor for optimum health.

66 words to better health for you, your community and the planet! Add sufficient water consumption, a bit of regular exercise, sufficient sleep and some glorious sun and you have a complete, simple, powerful program.
